Things are seldom as simple as we'd like. First, you've got to choose the right speaker out of a pool of dozens—if not hundreds—of candidates. Then you need to make contact, hope they're available, negotiate the details (including the money!), and then close the deal. And if they're not available (or if a deal falls through)? You've got to do it all again (and again, and again?). And if you haven't been given much time to get all this worked out...well...you get the idea.
